Carlos Cifuentes

“Sculpting a sculpture in the soul of the people who listen to him” has been the goal of this extraordinary and unique artist since he was a child. Maestro Carlos Cifuentes, International Violinist and Orchestra Conductor, has sought to spread his art without discrimination, from large audiences in the United States, Europe and Japan to the poorest and most humble communities in Latin America,

This is why the contributions of maestro Carlos Cifuentes are valuable not only for the merit of his performances as a virtuoso and of great expressive power, but also for the impact he has on the communities and groups with which he interacts.

His great violin technique and incredible talent has led him to perform both as Violinist Soloist and Conductor, in more than 47 countries in America, Europe and Asia, earning the respect and admiration of the critics and the public that listens to him.

In 1992 he was appointed by Dr. José ANTONIO ABREU, creator of EL SISTEMA of children’s and youth orchestras of Venezuela, as special envoy to the UNITED NATIONS through UNESCO and the OAS (Organization of American States) to disseminate, teach and develop EL SISTEMA of youth and children’s orchestras in Chile, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Peru, Paraguay, Ecuador, Colombia and Dominican Republic.

In 2003 he was hired by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Association for Art and Culture of Bolivia (APAC) to teach, direct and develop the symphonic strings in the City of Santa Cruz and in the villages of the Bolivian Chiquitania Ethnic Groups.

The great versatility as an artist and technical mastery of maestro Carlos Cifuentes, allow him to cover a rich musical repertoire ranging from Classical to modern, through Urban Pop and Rock, to the traditional and contemporary ecclesiastical religious repertoire. It is this characteristic of his talent that is allowing him to break new ground and face new challenges now in the United States of America.

Based for more than 7 years in this beautiful and blessed country, maestro Carlos Cifuentes is a member of the prestigious Miami Symphony Orchestra, he is part of the first violins of this selective and important American orchestra and with whom he has performed in many series of concerts in the most important halls of Miami, Florida, USA. He has also participated in the recording of live CDs for this extraordinary orchestra.

Together with the Miami Symphony Orchestra he has performed accompanying great artists, geniuses and famous figures of world-class music such as Tenor Placido Domingo, Sam Moore, Gloria Estefan, Juanes, Il Divo, Gloria Trevi and Rafael de España among others. He has also participated in the recording of the new record productions of great producers of the American music industry such as the multiple winner of the Grammy Awards, the producer and singer Rudy Pérez and the also winner of multiple awards and icon of the world music production the maestro Emilio Estefan. Maestro Carlos Cifuentes has also participated in the recording of the music for the new season of the television series “La Reina del Sur” for the famous American television channel TELEMUNDO and NETFLIX, which won the Grammy for Best Soundtrack of a Television Series. 

Academic Background

Carlos Cifuentes studied and graduated from the world-renowned musical educational program EL SISTEMA of youth and children’s orchestras in Venezuela. His violin teachers were the eminent Latin American pedagogue Dr. José Francisco del Castillo and the famous international violinist Rony Rogoff. He received his training as an Orchestra Conductor from the great genius and Founder of El Sistema, Dr. Jose Antonio Abreu, and the maestros Rodolfo Sanglimbeni, Sergio Bernal and Eduardo Marturet.

Maestro Carlos Cifuentes took several summer courses and masterclasses with  greatest teachers and maestros around the world like  Margaret Pardee and Dorothie Delay from the Juilliard School of Music in New York, with Maestro Mourice Hasson from the Royal College of London, in France with maestros Agustin Dumay and Oliver Charlier, Ancient Music and Baroque Performance with maestro Reinhard Goebels from the  Academy of Ancient Music, Cologne, Germany and received performance classes and artistic coach with the unforgettable teacher Raquel Adonaylo from the Curtis Conservatory – USA.

additionally he also actively participated in master classes with the following great violinists Rugiero Ricci, Shlomo Mintz, Zakhar Brom, Anne Sofie Mutter, Stoyka Milanova and Maestro Itzhak Perlman, all this under the economic sponsorship of EL SISTEMA VENEZUELA, the Ministry of Culture of the Venezuelan government and Dr. José Antonio Abreu.
